Johnny became a poker legend in the 1980s when he won the World Series of Poker in 1987 and 1988. In 1989 Johnny came very close to winning his third World Series of Poker in a row but he was defeated by Phil Hellmuth. In 2002 Johnny Chan was inducted in the Poker Hall of Fame. In 2005 Chan had won 10 World Series of Poker titles – just like Doyle Brunson.
Chan is known for bringing an orange to the poker table in tournaments. Though many think that the orange is a lucky charm Chan only brings it because it helps remove the cigarette smell. Chan also has a fast-food franchise and is a consultant for casinos and game makers. He dreams of opening his own casino.
