The hand is basically 5 playing cards.
If your hand is in the highest category you win. If you and another player have hands in the same category the winner is the player who has the higher cards.
- Straight Flush - cards of the same suit in numerical sequence. At a tie the higher straight flush wins. The highest straight flush is also called royal flush and it is: A,K,Q,J,10. The lowest straight flush is 5,4,3,2,A
- Four of a kind - it is also known as quads. It consist of all the four cards that have the same value. In a tie the highest kicker wins. The kicker i the fifth card.
- Full House – Three-of-a-kind and a pair. Also known as a boat. In a tie the higher three-of-a-kind wins. If, using community cards two players have the same three-of-a-kind the highest pair wins.
- Flush – five cards of the same suit. The highest flush wins.
- Straight – five cards of different suits in numerical order. Higher straight wins. A,K,Q,J,10 is the highest straight. 5,4,3,2,A or wheel is the lowest straight.
- Three of a kind – Three cards of the same numerical value. Highest 3-of-a-kind wins. In a tie the two kickers are compared and the highest wins
- Two pair – Two pairs. Higher pair wins. In care of a tie when comparing the top pairs the bottom pairs break the tie. If the bottom pairs are equal too the kicker breaks the tie.
- Pair – two cards of the same numerical value. Highest pair wins. In case of a tie the kickers are compared starting with the highest one and finishing with the lowest.
- High Card – When a hand does not fit into any of the other categories it is judged by its high cards. Compare the highest cards of the two hands. If they are equal compare the second highest.
