- Basic poker hand ranking

Aggressive play is about betting and raising while passive play is all about checking and calling.

It is generally considered that aggressive play is stronger than passive play because of the raises and of the bluff values and because it allows your opponents to make more mistakes.

No player should only play aggressive or passive for the fear of becoming too predictable.

Passive play can be better than aggressive play if it is used as a deception.

Loose players will play more hands and will go on betting when they know they have weak hands.

Tight players will play fewer hands and they will not go on with weaker hands.

Here are some tips for you to use in loose games.

If you are in tight game apply the opposite of these tips.

  • Loose opponents are likely to fold so bluffs or semi–bluffs are more effective
  • You can continue with lower made hands since loose players can also have lower value hands
  • If you draw to incomplete hands you will most likely get favorable pot odds and a stronger hand
